Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
Built at Swindon Works under Lot No. 269 in August 1931, Diagram A10 Class 61xx 'Large Prairie' No. 6110 entered traffic at Slough, employed on London suburban services, even over London Underground metals.
6110 was the first of the class to be fitted with a cab shutter from new and carried tripcock gear from new for operation on the Underground tracks.

Large Prairie 2-6-2 5150 Green GWR
Hornby GWR Class 61xx “Large Prairie” 2‑6‑2T model, representing locomotive No 6110, is supplied as a ready‑to‑run DCC item with an 8‑pin socket. The model is intended for OO gauge track and features a five‑pole skew wound motor with power pickup from all wheels. Its length is 165 mm and it is finished in a pristine green livery.
The locomotive has a minimum curve radius of the second radius (438 mm) and carries the period marking “The Big Four” (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR). It is supplied under Hornby part number R3721 and carries the running number 6110.
The prototype was built at GWR Swindon Works under lot number 269 in August 1931, entering service at Slough on London suburban routes, including operation on London Underground lines. It was the first of its class to be fitted with a cab shutter and tripcock gear from new, enabling use on underground tracks. The class was designed by Charles Collett, built between 1931 and 1935, with a total of 70 locomotives produced.
