Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
These German-built railbuses were delivered in April 1958 and initially operated on the Maldon, Braintree, and Saffron Walden lines. The last working example was withdrawn from service in August 1967 and four survived into preservation. This model is an improvement on the previous version first produced by Heljan in 2012.

The Heljan Waggon & Maschinenbau (W&M) Diesel Railbus model number E79960 is a scale representation of a British Railways railbus. The model is built to represent a vehicle in BR green livery with small yellow panels, and features a weathered finish. The railbus is based on the real-life vehicles built by Waggon-und-Maschinenbau GmbH Donauwörth in 1958.
The model is designed to be DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket, and features all-wheel drive, a heavy-duty chassis, working interior lights, NEM couplings, and sprung buffers. The minimum radius curve for operation is radius 1, and power pickup is provided by all wheels.
The Waggon & Maschinenbau Railbus class of vehicles was initially used on the Maldon, Braintree, and Saffron Walden lines, with the last working example being withdrawn in August 1967. Four examples of these vehicles have survived into preservation. This model is an updated version of a previous release by Heljan in 2012.
