Manufacturer description

The Class 68 is a new style of diesel-electric locomotive commissioned by DRS to haul both intermodal and passenger stock. The sleek design is based on the Vossloh Eurolight. The design meant that these locomotives are able to reach 100mph and due to the state of the art adhesion control system they have utilised the available traction power for both power and speed.

Dapol Class 68 Splendid 68027 is a ready‑to‑run model of a TransPennine Express diesel‑electric locomotive, built to the British Railways Class 68 specification. The model is produced by Dapol and represents locomotives built by Vossloh España and Stadler Rail between 2013 and 2017, fitting the Current Era (2005 onwards).

The model measures 270 mm over the buffer beams, 34 mm wide and 49 mm high. It is equipped with a DCC ready 21‑pin decoder (DCC 21) and can be powered from a 12 V DC track supply. All wheels are powered, and the locomotive uses NEM coupling pockets with tension lock. An accessory bag includes spare parts and optional detail components.

Detailing includes a finely moulded body with separate etched grills, directional lighting, cast wheels with relief and appropriate colour, and printed external logos and numbering. The chassis is constructed from tungsten, and the finish is described as pristine. The model is supplied in the TransPennine Express livery and conforms to the Bo‑Bo wheel arrangement.
