The Rapido D1744 Ballast Wagon is a model of a 2 plank ballast wagon, designed to represent a Southern Railway vehicle. The model is constructed from injection moulded plastic with metal detailing parts, and features a high level of detail both above and below the floor line.
The wagon is a straight-ended version of the SECR Diagram 1744 2 plank ballast wagon. It is finished in pristine condition and is decorated in SR engineers' red livery. The model is designed to be used with the OO gauge scale, which is equivalent to 1:76.
The model features split-spoked wheels running in metal bearings, and comes with NEM coupler pockets. This model is part of Rapido's SECR 2 Plank Ballast Wagon collection, which is designed to represent the Big Four railway companies of the post-Grouping era, specifically the Southern Railway.
