Prototype information

The Rapido APT-E Train Pack is a model of the British Rail InterCity 'Swallow' livery train. It is part of the Rapido APT-E (OO) collection. This limited edition model features a special edition InterCity 'Swallow' livery and is one of a production run of 200 models.

The model is gauge OO and has a pristine finish. It is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket, and features interior lighting. The operator is British Rail and the livery is InterCity.

The model includes two Power Cars, each with a five-pole, skew-wound motor, and two Trailer Cars with articulated Swinging Arm Trailer Bogies. The exterior of the model was 3D scanned for accurate body contours. The operating tilt mechanism and close coupling system allow for smooth operation down to Radius 2 (438mm) curves.

The model features full interior detail, including illuminated test instrumentation, and working headlamps, tail lamps and interior lighting. It can be powered conventionally with DC or with a factory-fitted ESU DCC sound decoder. The DCC sound version features accurate sound recorded from archival footage.

The mechanism of the model is smooth-running, with dual motors and flywheels. It is designed for drop-in conversion to 'P4' and 'EM' gauges.
