Prototype Era
Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
NER P3 locomotive, which for many is probably better known as the LNER / BR Class J27. This very capable locomotive was built to handle long distance freight and mineral trains mainly in the northeastern region. Due to the locomotive being so robust and being more than capable of hauling heavy coal trains the last of the Class was not removed from traffic until September 1967.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Class J27 LNER Black 0-6-0 Steam Locomotive No.1010 DCC SOUND
Oxford Class J27 LNER Black 0-6-0 Steam Locomotive No.1010 is a 2019 range model in pristine finish. The locomotive is presented in black livery with the running number 1010 and is DCC ready via a 21‑pin socket. It can negotiate a minimum radius curve of the second radius (438 mm).
The model represents a steam‑powered 0‑6‑0 locomotive designed by Wilson Worsdell and built between 1906 and 1922, with a total of 115 examples produced. It belongs to the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) J27 class and carries the manufacturer part number OR76J27001. The model depicts the period of the Big Four railway companies (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR).
The real NER P3, later known as LNER / BR Class J27, was employed on long‑distance freight and mineral trains in the north‑east of England. Its robust design allowed it to haul heavy coal trains, and the final member of the class remained in service until September 1967.
