Prototype Era
Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
The LNER J26 was built by the London North Eastern Railway company between 1904 and 1905. They were based on the earlier P2 class but featured a slightly improved boiler pressure and tractive effort. 50 of these locomotives were built in total, 30 were built at the Darlington works and 20 at the Gateshead works. They all lasted into BR ownership but were all scrapped with none of them surviving into preservation.
This locomotive is fitted with a DCC Decoder and an installed sound module. The sounds of the module include steam chuffs, whistle blowing, coal shovelling and many more.

Class J26 BR Black (Late) 0-6-0 Steam Locomotive No.65736
Oxford Class J26 BR Black (Late) 0‑6‑0 Steam Locomotive No 65736 – DCC Sound is a 2020 range model in pristine condition. It carries the British Railways black livery with the late crest, carries the running number 65736 and is fitted with a DCC decoder and sound module. The model measures 208 mm over the buffers and is intended for a minimum radius curve of the 2nd radius (438 mm). It uses NEM couplings and runs on 2‑rail DCC track.
The prototype locomotive was built between 1904 and 1905 for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) and was designed by Wilson Worsdell. Fifty examples were produced, all of the 0‑6‑0 wheel arrangement, and each entered British Railways service after nationalisation. The class was withdrawn in December 1964 after sixteen years of British Railways operation, and none survived into preservation.
Key specifications of the model include a black LNER late‑crest livery, NEM couplings, 0‑6‑0 wheel configuration and DCC sound capability that reproduces steam chuffs, whistle blowing, coal shovelling and other typical locomotive noises. The manufacturer part number is OR76J26003XS and the period represented is British Railways late crest.
