Prototype Era
Era 4 (1948 to 1956) British Railways Early Crest
The LNER J26 was built by the London North Eastern Railway company between 1904 and 1905. They were based on the earlier P2 class but featured a slightly improved boiler pressure and tractive effort. 50 of these locomotives were built in total, 30 were built at the Darlington works and 20 at the Gateshead works. They all lasted into BR ownership but were all scrapped with none of them surviving into preservation.
This locomotive is fitted with a DCC Decoder and an installed sound module. The sounds of the module include steam chuffs, whistle blowing, coal shovelling and many more.

Class J26 BR Black (Late) 0-6-0 Steam Locomotive No.65736 - DCC Sound
The Oxford Class J26 BR Black (Early) 0‑6‑0 Steam Locomotive No.65767 is a 2020 range model in pristine condition, finished in black livery with the early British Railways emblem. It carries the running number 65767 and the name W.P. Allen, and is fitted with a DCC decoder and sound module that reproduces steam chuffs, whistle blowing, coal shovelling and other typical sounds. The model has a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (2nd radius), NEM couplings, and a length of 208 mm over buffers. It runs on 2‑rail DCC track supply.
The prototype locomotive was built between 1904 and 1905 for the London & North Eastern Railway, designed by Wilson Worsdell. Fifty examples were produced, all withdrawn by December 1964 after 16 years of service, and none were preserved. The class was a 0‑6‑0 steam engine with improved boiler pressure and tractive effort compared to earlier types, and all units passed to British Railways before being scrapped.
