Seen during the late 1990’s and early 2000's, the Great North Eastern Railway was a privatised train operating company that ran services along the East Coast Mainline out of London Kings Cross to destinations in the North using iconic InterCity 125 and 225 passenger trains, alongside, amusingly, domestic Class 373 Eurostars.

The GNER InterCity 225 also briefly features in the first Harry Potter film, when Harry and Ron travel from Kings Cross for the first time on their way to Hogwarts!

Hornby GNER Class 91 “Train & Coaches” Bundle is a DCC‑ready model featuring a 21‑pin socket and an overall length of 330 mm. It is presented in the original Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) livery, rides on a 2nd‑radius minimum curve of 438 mm, and is equipped with sprung metal buffers and an NEM tension‑lock coupling. The model represents the InterCity 225 (Class 91) from the period of railway rebuilding and carries the manufacturer part number BUNDLEH62; it was designed by Met Cam for the operator GNER.

The bundle includes the BR electric locomotive 91124 “Reverend W Awdry”, eight Mk4 trailer cars and Driving Vehicle Trailer No. 82202, offering a complete set for an OO‑gauge layout. GNER operated services on the East Coast Main Line from London Kings Cross to northern destinations in the late 1990s and early 2000s, using InterCity 125 and 225 trains alongside domestic Class 373 Eurostar units.

The InterCity 225 model also appears briefly in the first Harry Potter film, depicting Harry and Ron travelling from Kings Cross on their way to Hogwarts.
