Manufacturer description

British Rail Class 128 was a class of diesel multiple unit, built for British Rail and introduced in 1959.

The class was built specifically for parcels, fitted out with parcel racks and bike storage at each end, and did not feature any passenger accommodation. The last members of the class were withdrawn in 1990 and broken up the following year, and none were preserved.

The Heljan model of the British Rail Class 128 diesel multiple‑unit locomotive (product code M55993) is a 1:76 scale OO gauge kit that reproduces the original BR blue livery. It is supplied as a pristine‑finished, ready‑to‑run unit with a 21‑pin DCC decoder socket, requiring a compatible decoder such as the Rails Connect RoS‑218.

The model represents a Bo‑Bo diesel unit built by the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company in 1959‑1960, of which only ten were produced. The real Class 128 was used for parcels traffic, had no passenger accommodation and was withdrawn in 1990. The kit measures 267 mm in length, has NEM couplings, sprung buffers and a 12 V DC track supply. Power is collected from all wheels and the locomotive includes directional lighting and a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (2nd radius).
