Manufacturer description

The majority of these tank wagons were built between 1939 and 1944 as Class A wagons for aviation fuel, being 17ft-6inch long on a 10ft wheelbase fitted with RCH either side braking and split oil axle boxes. The tank was 7ft-2inch diameter containing 4275 gallons saddle mounted with two small platforms on the top of the tank. After the war and around 1947, surplus tank wagons were converted to Class B fitted with heating coils to help discharge of viscous fuel and bottom discharge. All Class A tanks had gone out of service by 1971 with the last B Class tank following in 1973.

The Dapol 14T Tank Wagon Class A Shell Motor Spirit Silver 7522 is a model of a British railway wagon. The model represents a Class A tank wagon in the livery of Shell Motor Spirit, with a running number of 7522. The wagon has a 4-wheel wheel arrangement and is fitted with a NEM/Tension lock coupling. The model features a finely detailed and accurate body shell and chassis, with many separately added details such as platforms and ladders. The chassis is also fully sprung.

The model is designed to be compatible with minimum radius curves of 1 metre. The Class A tank wagon was a type of wagon built between 1939 and 1944 for carrying aviation fuel, with a 7ft 2inch diameter tank containing 4275 gallons of fuel. The wagon was later converted to Class B specification in the late 1940s, with the introduction of heating coils to aid the discharge of viscous fuel.

The model is part of a range of Class A and Class B tank wagons being produced by Dapol, with the ability to choose between the two variants. The model is based on the early British Railways crest period and is a representation of the wagons in service during the mid-20th century.
