The real‑world HIA limestone hopper was introduced in 2005 for exclusive use by Freightliner Heavy Haul Limited. It was built by Wagony Swidinica in Poland, with 122 units produced – 95 in the green Heavy Haul livery and 27 in a white livery. The wagon is 14 metres long, can carry up to 90 tonnes, and was employed across England, notably moving limestone from Dowlow in Derbyshire to destinations in Yorkshire, Kent, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Lancashire. It requires a minimum curve radius of one unit (radius 1).

The Dapol model reproduces the prototype’s details, including a finely moulded body, accurately printed livery, profiled wheels and NEM pockets with self‑centering couplings. The model’s length is 180 mm. All components are painted and marked to match the original Freightliner green livery.
