Class 68 68034 in Direct Rail Services blue
Dapol Class 68 (model 68026) is a OO gauge, DCC sound‑fitted replica of the British Rail Class 68 locomotive operated by Direct Rail Services. The model is finished in pristine condition, carries the blue livery used by DRS and bears the running number 68026.
Key specifications: gauge OO; motive power diesel; built between 2013 and 2017; total production run of 34 units; maximum speed 100 mph; manufacturer part number 4D‑022‑015S; it represents the initial privatisation period of British rail. The locomotive is supplied with DCC ready electronics and sound fitted as standard.
The model includes a finely moulded body with numerous separate fine details, printed name plates and etched plates (supplied separately), cast wheels with detailed relief and appropriate colour, a tungsten chassis with full wheel pickup, standard NEM pockets and independently controllable, switchable directional lighting.
The real Class 68 was developed by Direct Rail Services as a high‑speed freight and passenger locomotive offering low emissions, good fuel economy and the electrical installation required for heating and lighting on passenger services. It has become a widely used performer across much of the UK rail network.
