The OO‑scale model is DCC fitted, finished in pristine condition and suitable for a minimum radius of 2 inches. Power is taken from all wheels, with NEM and tension‑lock coupling, and it represents a diesel‑multiple‑unit built in 1960 by the Pressed Steel Company. The real British Rail Class 121 comprised sixteen single‑car, double‑ended driving motor vehicles built in 1960, numbered 55020 to 55035, later supplemented by ten single‑ended trailer cars. They were capable of 70 mph, featured slam‑doors and vacuum brakes, and were popularly known as “bubble cars”.

The Dapol model includes a finely moulded body with separate detail parts, accurately applied Railtrack livery and cast wheels with fine relief and appropriate colouration. It has a tungsten chassis, all‑wheel pickup, standard NEM pockets, independently controllable directional lighting and a 5‑pole skew‑wound Mega creep motor for smooth running. An accessory bag with spares and optional detail is supplied.
