The Dapol water tower brings a little fun back into the hobby. Dapol have provided a realistic series of sounds and a selection of voiceover comments, several of which involve the driver berating his fireman for mucking it all up.

The highly detailed exterior of the model will not look out of place on any discerning modellers layout, with a non-motorised version available for the traditional modeller. The sound effects and animation however bring a little audible and visual stimulation to a locomotive servicing area that will entertain adults and children alike. The sound effects can be turned off for those times when you just want to relax and run some trains around your layout in peace and quiet.

Model details

The Dapol GWR Water Tower is a model of a classic water tower in the grey livery of the Great Western Railway. This static model is designed to capture the intricate details of the original water towers found on British railways during the Big Four era, which spanned from the 1923 grouping to the nationalisation of the railways in 1948.

The model measures 37mm in width and is designed for OO gauge tracks. Key features of the model include a highly detailed design, a flexible delivery pipe that can be trimmed to fit the desired length, and etched parts for added authenticity. Other details include a water valve, positioning chains, drain grill, tether post, and frost prevention heater.

A motorised version of the model is also available, which features sounds to enhance the overall experience.
