Prototype Era
Era 8 (1983 to 1994) British Rail Sectorisation
The British Rail Class 155 diesel multiple unit (DMU) was introduced in 1987–1988. Built by Leyland at Workington, 42 two-car units were produced using construction methods from the bus-building industry. Shortly after entering service, structural faults, including body cracks, led to the fleet being temporarily withdrawn. Rather than restoring them as two-car sets, British Rail split each unit into single vehicles, creating the Class 153 between 1991 and 1992. These single-car units were suited to rural and lightly used routes. Although short-lived in original form, the Class 155 remains an interesting part of British railway history.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Accurascale Class 155 – Provincial – 155301 is a 00 scale model of the British Rail Class 155 diesel multiple unit (DMU). The kit is supplied with a British Rail Provincial livery and carries the manufacturer part number ACC3514. It is advertised as DCC Ready, allowing operation with digital command control systems.
The model represents the two‑car formation built by Leyland at Workington and introduced during the 1987‑1988 British Rail sectorisation period. The original fleet comprised 42 two‑car units that were later divided into single‑car Class 153 units between 1991 and 1992.
Although the Class 155 only operated in its original form for a short period, it remains a notable example of late‑1980s British railway rolling stock and is of interest to collectors and modellers of post‑sectorisation diesel units.
