Manufacturer description

In the late 1970s some remaining Siphon Gs were transferred into Departmental traffic, particularly branded as Enparts, the Western Region’s fleet of vans used for transporting spare parts for locomotives and rolling stock from Swindon to the larger Motive Power Depots. They soldered on in service until 1985, making them a favourite pre-nationalisation favourite of the corporate blue era. Our latest "Accurascale Exclusive" covers the Siphon in this condition, suitably modified and decorated for this traffic.

Accurascale Siphon G – Dia. O.62 (QRV) ‘Enparts’ Olive Green – model number ACC2420‑ADB975784. A highly detailed OO‑gauge (1:76.2) representation of the Swindon‑built Siphon G van, finished in an olive‑green livery and equipped with NEM‑standard coupling sockets and a mini tension‑lock coupler.

The prototype vans were constructed between 1913 and 1955 at Swindon Works and Derby Works. In the late 1970s a number of surviving Siphon Gs were transferred to Departmental traffic on the Western Region, being used to carry spare parts for locomotives and rolling stock. They remained in service until 1985, representing the British Rail Blue (TOPS) era.

Key specifications: coach length 216 mm, minimum radius 438 mm (2nd radius set‑track), 2‑bogie wheel arrangement with blackened RP25.110 profile wheel‑sets (14.4 mm back‑to‑back, 26 mm over pinpoints) running in brass bearings. The model includes separately‑applied etched metal and high‑fidelity plastic details such as handrails, brake and steam‑heat pipes, cabling, foot‑steps with tread, and a fully detailed underframe with accurate pipe runs and version differences. The replica bogies are finely detailed, and the exterior roof and coach ends feature extremely fine detailing.
