This model is the CBD80 Sellafield Ltd locomotive. There are two versions of this locomotive available to pre-order. They are the same locomotive with different running numbers. Running numbers are still to be confirmed.
PROGRESS CAD work is already underway and images will be published soonHISTORY
Clayton has supplied variations of its CBD80/90 hybrid battery-diesel loco to a number of industrial users with an initial build of 5 for Tata Steel, 2 for Sellafield and 15 for Beacon Rail with more expected in the future. Clayton and Beacon hope that the Class 18 will begin to replace elderly Class 08s as the modern yard shunter of choice.
The 15 Beacon locos have been assigned to Class 18 on the rail network and are expected to be hired out to freight operators in a number of industrial and yard locations. 18001 is currently on test at the Chasewater Railway with Clayton delivering further Class 18s from now until mid-2023.
Revolution have an exclusive licence from Beacon to use their logo and branding on the Class 18s, plus an agreement from Tata Steel.

Clayton Class 18 / CBD80 Sellafield Ltd Hybrid Battery Diesel Locomotive No.2 (Version B)
Revolution Trains Clayton Class 18 / CBD80 Sellafield Ltd Hybrid Battery Diesel Locomotive No.2 (Version B) DCC Sound is a limited‑edition OO gauge model (1:76.2 scale) representing a current‑era hybrid battery‑diesel shunter. The model carries the manufacturer part number RT‑CBD80‑SE‑B‑SF, includes interior lighting and a DCC sound project recorded by Legomanbiffo.
The locomotive is available to pre‑order exclusively through Rails, with two versions offered that share the same design but will bear different running numbers (still to be confirmed).
CAD work on the model is already in progress, and images are expected to be released shortly. Production is slated to ship in the latter part of next year or in early 2023, according to the latest release information.
Clayton Engineering has supplied variations of the CBD80/90 hybrid battery‑diesel shunter to several industrial operators, initially building five units for Tata Steel, two for Sellafield and fifteen for Beacon Rail. The Class 18 is intended to replace ageing Class 08 shunters as a modern yard locomotive, with the Beacon Rail units already classified as Class 18 and some undergoing testing on heritage lines.
Key features of the model include an injection‑moulded plastic body and bogies with detailed photo‑etched grilles, handrails, piping and windscreens; a heavy cast metal chassis/footplate block; power pick‑up on all wheels; and provision for conversion to EM/P4 standards. Couplers are fitted in NEM 362 sockets with a kinematic close‑coupling system and a removable end buffing plate. The chassis houses a smooth 5‑pole 12 V DC motor with metal gearboxes and brass‑axle bearings. A high‑quality PCB provides a 21‑pin DCC interface with Stay‑Alive and Anti‑Flicker functions. The model features working forward cab and buffer‑beam headlights, red tail lights, optional flashing warning lights, and switchable interior cab lighting, all using bright white or coloured LEDs. Buffers are softly sprung, and the kit includes an accessory pack for adding realistic cosmetic coupler hooks and shackles.
