Rapido's GCR 15T 6w Brake Van in LNER Bauxite
Rapido has released a new model of the Great Central Railway's 15-ton 6-wheeled brake van, specifically in the livery of the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) pre-1936 style. This model is designed to replicate the original GCR design, with a number of distinctive features.
One notable aspect of this model is its vacuum-fitted braking system, which was a common feature on many railway brake vans of the period. The model also features GCR-style axleboxes, providing a level of authenticity that will be appreciated by modellers of the era. The round base buffers and spoked wheels, which run in metal bearings, add to the model's realistic appearance.
Attention to detail is evident throughout the model, with a high level of detailing provided above and below the floor line. The paintwork and livery application are of a high quality, accurately capturing the LNER's distinctive oxide livery. For ease of use, the model is fitted with NEM coupler pockets, making it compatible with other models on the market.
The model is scaled at 1:76, making it suitable for OO gauge layouts.
