This model is a reproduction of a locomotive from the Big Four era, a period in British railway history that spanned from the grouping of the railways in 1923 to the nationalisation of the railways in 1948. The Big Four consisted of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS), the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER), the Great Western Railway (GWR), and the Southern Railway (SR).

The model features a number of authentic details, including a NBR-style smokebox door and a square running plate valance. It also has Ross pop safety valves and late tender springs with dampers, as well as Westinghouse and vacuum brakes. The locomotive is suitable for operation on curves of 438mm or greater.

The model features a dynamic firebox flicker, a 21-pin DCC decoder socket, and MoPower stay-alive capacitors.
