Era 1 (1804 to 1874) Pioneering

Manufacturer description

Early coaches were a far cry from what we have come to expect in the modern era. Third Class coaches resembled little more than open wagons with a few internal walls to create some semblance of compartments. These coaches would not have seats with passengers standing for the entirety of their journeys.

Painted blue, these coaches would be the used considerably more than first class coaches. The First Class passengers, as you may expect, were treated considerably better than those in Third Class. Passengers would be treated to padded bench seats in each compartment and a roof over their heads, something Third Class coaches lacked.

Each First Class coach would be painted in a similar yellow to 'Rocket', each would be named as a means of identification. While no coaches have survived into the modern era, replicas have been created with are thought to be as accurate as possible, these can be found at the NRM and occasionally in service at preserved railway events along side the replica 'Rocket'.
