Prototype Era
Era 1 (1804 to 1874) Pioneering
In September 1930 the newly refurbished L&MR No. 57, 'Lion' became one of the star attractions at the Liverpool & Manchester Railway Centenary exhibition in September of that year. Using replica coaches and carriages of the period 'Lion' offered trips around a circular track at the Wavertree Playground in Liverpool.
The exhibition train was made up of 'Lion', plus three replica First Class coaches, 'Traveller', 'Huskisson' and Experience' and three open Third Class carriages.
The Hornby R30232 L&MR 1930 Centenary Train Pack includes not only 'Lion' but also coaches 'Experience' and 'Traveller' together with a 3rd Class carriage.
Included in this pack is a 1st Class coach, 'Huskisson' and two 3rd Class Carriages which when added to those included in the R30232 L&MR 1930 Centenary Train pack recreates the celebratory train that ran so successfully in the 100-year celebrations at Wavertree Playground, Liverpool in September 1930.
