Hornby SR Maunsell S15 Class locomotive, number 827, is presented in a pristine black finish. The model measures 266 mm in length and is fitted with a 5‑pole skew‑wound motor, an 8‑pin DCC ready socket and power pickup on both the driving and tender wheels.

The locomotive runs on a 4‑6‑0 wheel arrangement and uses NEM/Tension‑lock couplings. It is capable of negotiating a minimum radius of 438 mm (second radius). The model represents the Southern Railway’s S15 class, designed by Richard Maunsell and built at the LSWR/SR Eastleigh Works between 1920 and 1936.

The S15 class comprised 45 members and operated under the Southern Railway during the era of the Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR). Hornby’s part number for this model is R3411.
