This strange engine was created as a one off prototype for experimental testing as an oil burning locomotive in 1901, intended for service on the Wrington Vale Light Railway in Somerset. But following conversion back to coal burning the locomotive ended up spending its working life incommunicado at Swindon railway works as a works shunter.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Hornby RailRoad Rothery Industries presents a 0‑4‑0T model of the ex‑GWR 101 Class, running number 391. The model is finished in blue paint, conforms to OO gauge and measures 108 mm in length with a minimum radius curve of 371 mm (first radius). It is equipped with a three‑pole motor, power is collected from all wheels and it does not support DCC. The locomotive carries the Rothery Industrial livery and is supplied under manufacturer part number R3359. It represents the British Railways Early Crest period and is based on a single locomotive built in 1901.
The prototype locomotive was constructed in 1901 as an experimental oil‑burning engine for the Wrington Vale Light Railway in Somerset. After conversion back to coal firing it spent its operational life as a works shunter at Swindon railway works. Only one example of the class was ever produced.
