Manufacturer description

EUROSTAR CLASS 373/1 e300 POWER DRIVING UNIT, EUROSTAR DUMMY DRIVING UNIT with TWO EUROSTAR PASSENGER SALOONS. (BOTH DRIVING UNITS ARE FITTED WITH NON-WORKING PANTOGRAPHS.)

Nothing can beat the performance and sheer awesome elegance of the 300kph Eurostar train as it hurtles through the Kent countryside heading for the Channel Tunnel and then on from there to Paris or Brussels. However, the familiar grey and yellow livery has given way to the more modern and striking colour scheme of steel blue and grey with yellow banding which now clearly illustrates the current and dynamic Eurostar corporate colours.

Hornby Eurostar, Class 373/1 e300 Train Pack – Era 10 is a ready‑to‑run model of the British Rail Class 373 Eurostar high‑speed train, supplied in a four‑unit configuration.

The model is designed for OO gauge track and measures 288 mm per unit, giving a total length of 1492 mm when the four units are coupled. It is finished in a steel blue livery with grey and yellow banding and is described as having a pristine painted surface. Both driving units are equipped with non‑working pantographs. The minimum curve radius is the second radius specification of 438 mm. Power is collected from the power car only. The model is DCC‑ready with an 8‑pin socket and incorporates a 5‑pole skew‑wound motor in the driving units, with a 3‑pole skew‑wound motor listed for alternative configurations.

The prototype units were built between 1992 and 1996, introduced in 1993 and operated by Eurostar as express passenger services. They were designed by GEC‑Alsthom and BN and constructed by GEC‑Alsthom together with BN Constructions Ferroviaires et Métalliques. The model represents the period of railway rebuilding associated with the introduction of the Channel Tunnel services.

The pack contains a power driving unit, a dummy driving unit and two passenger saloon cars. Both driving units are fitted with pantographs that do not function, providing an accurate visual representation of the original Eurostar formation.
