Hornby RailRoad 4‑6‑2 ‘Tornado’ is a model of the London & North Eastern Railway Peppercorn Class A1 steam locomotive. It represents the initial privatisation period and is designed to the specifications of the original locomotive designed by Arthur Peppercorn. The model was built by Locomotive Construction Co Ltd in Darlington for the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust and carries the running number 60163.
The model is finished in Apple/Doncaster Green with silver lining and measures 293 mm in length. It is DCC ready with an eight‑pin socket, fitted with a three‑pole motor and flywheel, and uses NEM couplings. Power is collected from both the driving wheels and the tender wheels, and the minimum curve radius is listed as the second radius (438 mm). The locomotive is powered by steam, has a maximum speed of 100 mph, and the wheel arrangement is 4‑6‑2.
A total of 50 examples were produced. The model has been in service for twelve years and is marked as being operated by British Railways. Its manufacturer part number is R3060.
