Era 11 (2016 to 2026) The Last Days of Privatisation
Entering service at Cardiff Canton in 1991, 60039 was originally named âGlastonbury Torâ as part of the hills and peaks theme of the initial Class 60 naming convention.Â
It was later one of the locomotives selected for the âSuper 60â upgrade programme announced by DBS/DB Cargo in November 2010 that was designed to extend their working life by a further 15 years. No.60039 was named âDove Holesâ in April 2015 and was used on limestone traffic out of Derbyshire. It is still owned by DB Cargo and is one of 52 members of the class put into storage by the company.Â
We've recreated this impressive locomotive in RailRoad form, bringing the most important details to life and adding features to enhance durability, making this the perfect model for regular layout use.

* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Hornby RailRoad DB Rail â Class 60 âDoveâŻHolesâ 60039 is a model locomotive supplied under part number R30537. It represents the rebuilding era of the British railways.
The prototype entered service at Cardiff Canton in 1991, originally carrying the name âGlastonburyâŻTorâ as part of the hillsâandâpeaks naming scheme. In November 2010 the locomotive was selected for the âSuperâŻ60â upgrade programme announced by DBS/DBâŻCargo, a refit intended to extend its working life by around fifteen years. It was renamed âDoveâŻHolesâ in April 2015 and thereafter operated limestone trains from Derbyshire. The engine remains owned by DBâŻCargo and is one of fiftyâtwo class members now in storage.
The Hornby model reproduces the key external features of the real locomotive and incorporates durable components, making it suitable for frequent use on a model railway layout.
