Prototype Era
Era 4 (1948 to 1956) British Railways Early Crest
Introduced as the ‘Y14’ Class for both freight and passenger work on the Great Eastern Railway, a total of 289 of these versatile 0-6-0s were built between 1883 and 1913, with all but 19 emerging from Stratford Works in East London. It was one of a batch of ten completed in 1912, entering service in March of that year as No. 567. From 1924, it was renumbered 7567 as part of its J15 Class. The LNER had a major renumbering scheme in 1946 when the locomotive became No. 5465, then finished its career under BR as No. 65465 in September 1962.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.
