The Heljan model represents a Great Western Railway Class 47xx 2‑8‑0 locomotive, number 4709, in British Railways lined green livery with the late crest. The model is built to OO gauge, measures 271 mm in length and features a pristine finish. It is DCC ready with a 21‑pin socket and uses a NEM coupling; the minimum curve radius is 2nd radius (438 mm).

The locomotive is modelled as a steam‑powered engine, designed by George Churchward and originally built at Swindon Works in 1919, one of nine produced. It carries the wheel arrangement 2‑8‑0 and is intended to represent the British Railways early‑crest period. The manufacturer part number is 4785.
