Built to replace the legendary Lancashire & Yorkshire 0-4-0ST 'Pugs', this class of 20 short wheelbase 0-4-0 diesel-hydraulic locomotives was based on a standard industrial design. Delivered to depots in the north west of England for shunting tightly-curved lines around docks and goods depots, many were sold into industry in the late 1960s and subsequently preserved to enjoy a third life at heritage railways.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

The Heljan Class 02 model in British Rail green livery is available in the number 02004. This OO gauge model is DCC ready, featuring an 18-pin socket for easy installation of a digital command control decoder. The locomotive is weathered to give a realistic appearance. The model has a length of 88mm and features NEM couplings for smooth coupling and uncoupling.
The Class 02 was a class of 20 0-4-0 diesel-hydraulic locomotives built by the Yorkshire Engine Co. between 1960 and 1961. These locomotives were based on a standard industrial design and were delivered to depots in the north west of England. They were used for shunting on tightly-curved lines around docks and goods depots.
This model features a highly-detailed cab interior and underframe, as well as working lights. The locomotive is suitable for use on curves with a minimum radius of 1. The model is built to represent the period of British Rail Blue, prior to the introduction of the TOPS system.
