Era 6 (1967 to 1972) British Rail Blue (Pre-TOPS)
Built to replace the legendary Lancashire & Yorkshire 0-4-0ST 'Pugs', this class of 20 short wheelbase 0-4-0 diesel-hydraulic locomotives was based on a standard industrial design. Delivered to depots in the north west of England for shunting tightly-curved lines around docks and goods depots, many were sold into industry in the late 1960s and subsequently preserved to enjoy a third life at heritage railways.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

The Heljan Class 02 D2864 is a model of a diesel locomotive representing a British Rail Class 02 locomotive in BR green with late crest livery. The model is OO gauge and features a 0-4-0 wheel arrangement, with a length of 88mm and a minimum radius curve of 1.
The locomotive is based on a standard industrial design and was built by the Yorkshire Engine Company in Sheffield between 1960 and 1961. A total of 20 locomotives were produced for British Railways, which operated them in the north west of England for shunting duties around docks and goods depots.
The model features a highly detailed cab interior and underframe, with working lights and a next18 DCC decoder interface for easy digital control. The locomotive is DCC ready, with an 18-pin socket, and features NEM couplings.
Key specifications include a maximum speed of 19.5mph, a length of 88mm, and a gauge of OO. The model's running number is D2864, and it is built to represent the period of British Railways' late crest.
