Heljan Class 05 Hunslet shunter D2578 is a OO gauge model of the British Rail Class 05 diesel shunting locomotive. The model is presented in British Rail green livery with late crest and wasp‑stripe detailing, and is supplied in a pristine finish. It carries the running number D2578 and is supplied with the manufacturer part number 2501.
The model is DCC ready, featuring a 6‑pin socket, NEM couplings and directional lighting. Power is collected from all wheels and the minimum radius curve is 371 mm (1st radius). The locomotive is fitted with a 0‑6‑0 wheel arrangement, a maximum speed of 18.8 mph and is powered by a diesel motive source.
The real Class 05 locomotives were built by Hunslet Engine Co between 1955 and 1961, with a total production run of 69 units. They were operated by British Rail and the model represents the late‑crest period of British Railways.
