The Heljan model replicates a British Rail Class 05 Hunslet shunter, number D2574, finished in the BR green livery with the late crest. It is presented in OO gauge, with a pristine condition and all wheels powered.
The locomotive is DCC ready, featuring a 6‑pin socket, directional lighting, and NEM couplings. It is equipped with a 0‑6‑0 wheel arrangement, a minimum curve radius of 371 mm (first radius), and a maximum speed of 18.8 mph. Power is drawn from all wheels and the motive power is diesel.
The prototype was built between 1955 and 1961 by the Hunslet Engine Co, with a total production run of 69 units. The model bears the manufacturer part number 2500 and represents the British Railways late‑crest period.
