Heljan Class 16 North British Type 1 D8407 is a limited‑edition OO‑scale model, with a production run of 750 units. The locomotive is finished in British Rail green with a late crest and full yellow end panels, and is presented in pristine condition. It carries the running number D8407 and bears the manufacturer part number 1603.
The model features a 21‑pin DCC‑ready socket, directional lighting, and power pickup from all wheels. It is equipped with NEM couplings, a minimum curve of 2nd radius (438 mm), and the Bo‑Bo wheel arrangement typical of the original diesel locomotive built by North British Locomotive Co in Glasgow in 1958. The prototype served British Rail for ten years, achieving a maximum speed of 60 mph before being withdrawn in September 1968.
This representation depicts the British Railways early crest period and is aimed at collectors seeking a historically accurate, fully functional replica of the Class 16 diesel locomotive.
