Heljan have produced a limited edition replica of the British Rail Class 16 Type 1 locomotive D8400, finished in British Rail green with a grey roof. The model is offered in an edition of 750 units and is built to OO gauge with a pristine finish.

The locomotive is DCC ready, fitted with a 21‑pin socket and directional lighting. It uses NEM couplings, a Bo‑Bo wheel arrangement and all wheels are powered for pickup. The model includes a running number D8400 and carries the late crest livery used by British Railways. The minimum curve radius is 2nd radius (438 mm) and the maximum speed is set at 60 mph.

The prototype was built by North British Locomotive Co in Glasgow in 1958, entered service with British Rail and operated for ten years before withdrawal in July 1968. A total of ten of the original locomotives were produced. The model’s manufacturer part number is 1600 and it represents the period of British Railways with the late crest.
