EFE Rail J94 saddle tank locomotive ‘Amazon’ is presented in a weathered National Coal Board green livery. The model measures 130 mm over the couplings and is built to OO scale specifications. It represents a London and North Eastern Railway J94 “Austerity” class shunter, originally built in 1943, with a 0‑6‑0ST wheel arrangement and designed by Robert Riddles. The prototype was used for shunting duties and operated by the National Coal Board.
The model features a Corless motor, sprung buffers and an authentic weathered paint finish. It is DCC ready, incorporating a Next18 decoder socket located inside the smokebox and accessible via a magnetic smokebox door. The recommended decoder for use is model 36‑567A. The product carries the manufacturer part number E85004 and is listed under the era 6/7 for British railway modelling.
The locomotive was announced as part of the Autumn 2020 British Railway announcements and is suitable for collectors and model railway enthusiasts seeking a period‑accurate representation of a British Rail blue (pre‑TOPS) locomotive in a weathered condition.
