The Class 144 Diesel Multiple Unit was part of British Rail’s Second Generation DMU fleet. Known as ‘Pacers’, along with the Class 141, 142 and 143s, the Class 144s were introduced by British Rail in the mid-1980s at a time when it was replacing its ageing fleet of first generation DMUs. Operating until 2021, this EFE Rail model depicts unit No. 144011 in BR Regional Railways livery with weathered finish.

EFE Rail produce a 2‑car OO‑scale model of British Rail Class 144 diesel multiple unit, running number 144011, in a weathered BR Regional Railways blue and grey livery. The model represents the mid‑1980s introduction of the “Pacer” family during the British Rail sectorisation era and depicts the unit as it would have appeared in service to Leeds and York.

The completed model measures 420 mm in length and is built with NEM coupling pockets. It is fitted with a Next18 DCC decoder socket and comes ready for DCC installation; the recommended decoder is item 36‑567A. Propulsion is provided by a 3‑pole motor with flywheel, and the model includes directional lighting, interior lighting, and a speaker.

Interior detailing includes realistic destination blinds for Leeds and York, as well as accessories that replicate the original car numbers 55811 and 55834. The model also incorporates an accessory pack and complies with the specifications of the original 25‑unit production batch.

The Class 144 units operated under British Rail Regional Railways until withdrawal in 2021, having replaced earlier first‑generation DMUs. This model offers a historically accurate representation of that period for collectors and railway enthusiasts.
