The Class 144 Diesel Multiple Unit was part of British Rail’s Second Generation DMU fleet. Known as ‘Pacers’, along with the Class 141, 142 and 143s, the Class 143s were introduced by British Rail in the mid-1980s at a time when it was replacing its ageing fleet of first generation DMUs. This EFE Rail model depicts unit No. 144003 in its colourful BR West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive ‘Metro’ Red and Cream livery.

EFE Rail produce an OO‑scale model of British Rail Class 144 unit 144003, representing a two‑car Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) in the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive Metro livery of red and cream. The model measures 420 mm in length and is finished in pristine condition.

The model is equipped with a 3‑pole motor and flywheel, an NEM coupling, and a Next18 DCC decoder socket (18‑pin) making it DCC ready; a decoder such as item 36‑567A is recommended. Both interior lighting and directional lighting are fitted, and a speaker is included to provide sound.

Additional features comprise destination blinds for Leeds and Skipton, interior detailing, and an accessory pack with NEM coupling pockets. The model depicts cars numbered 55803 and 55826 and reflects the British Rail sectorisation period of the mid‑1980s when the Class 144 ‘Pacer’ units were introduced to replace older first‑generation DMUs.
