Manufacturer description

Based on diagram 1/479 Two Lots were built in Ashford by BR during 1961 - 1962, a total of 1200 wagons were built. Constructed to a modern design, on David & Lloyd bogies, this wagon was the shortest of the bogie bolsters at just over 32 feet in length.

The reasoning behind equipping such a short vehicle with bogies was that a higher load could be carried due the increased axle count. Though originally constructed as part of BRs regular 'pool' of commercial wagons, they quickly found favour with the Engineers Department as well as many other uses including conversions to steel coil carriers and continuous welded rail transportation amongst other uses.

The Dapol Bogie Bolster Wagon BR 923791 Bauxite (TOPS YNV) is a model of a British Rail bogie bolster wagon, designed for OO gauge model railways. The model represents a wagon in British Rail Blue livery, pre-TOPS, and is accurately depicted in bauxite finish.

The model features a number of detailed components, including a die-cast chassis, finely detailed underframe, and sprung buffers. The bogies are also highly detailed, with a prototype chassis design. The model's axles are pinpoint, and it features profiled metal wheels.

The model includes a number of operational features, such as a working 'instanter' coupling, and a removable NEM pocket. The bolsters are re-positionable, with a multi-part construction that allows for correct relief. The stanchions are also re-positionable, with separate metal tie-down loops.
