Manufacturer description

Based on diagram 1/479 Two Lots were built in Ashford by BR during 1961 - 1962, a total of 1200 wagons were built. Constructed to a modern design, on David & Lloyd bogies, this wagon was the shortest of the bogie bolsters at just over 32 feet in length.

The reasoning behind equipping such a short vehicle with bogies was that a higher load could be carried due the increased axle count. Though originally constructed as part of BRs regular 'pool' of commercial wagons, they quickly found favour with the Engineers Department as well as many other uses including conversions to steel coil carriers and continuous welded rail transportation amongst other uses.

This is a summary of the Dapol Bogie Bolster Wagon model, specifically the BR bauxite variant, TOPS YRV (S&T) number 923528.

The model is designed for OO gauge and features a length of 128mm, a width of 33mm, and a height of 35mm. It has a minimum recommended radius curve of Radius 2.

The model is characterised by its highly detailed bogies, die-cast chassis, and finely detailed underframe. It also features sprung buffers, a working 'instanter' coupling, and a removable NEM pocket.

The bogie bolster itself is multi-component, allowing for re-positioning, and features correct relief. The stanchions are also re-positionable, with separate metal tie-down loops. The wheels are profiled metal.

This model represents a British Rail wagon from the pre-TOPS era, specifically in the British Rail Blue livery.
