The MJA bogie ballast wagon was introduced in 2003 and was built by Wagony Swidnica in Poland and operated exclusively by Freightliner Heavy Haul Limited. The primary use of the wagon is for the carrying of stone, minerals and other aggregates. The wagons operated almost always in pairs with buffers at one end and the other end bar coupled to the twin wagon. The wagon is still used widely today including Mountsorrel to Luton and from Croft to Harwich. GB Railfreight have taken ownership of a number of these vehicles.

MJA Freightliner Heavy Haul Bogie Box Van 502021 & 022
Dapol has released a new OO scale model of the GBRf Bogie Box Van, specifically the variants 502009 and 010. The model represents the vehicle in its pristine finish, with a finely moulded body featuring numerous separately added details.
The model is a representation of the MJA bogie ballast wagon, which was introduced in 2003 and built by Wagony Swidnica in Poland. The wagons were primarily used for carrying stone, minerals, and other aggregates, and were often operated in pairs with buffers at one end and the other end bar coupled to the twin wagon.
Key features of the model include a twin wagon set complete with a coupling bar, finely moulded body with separately added details, and finely applied livery with accurately printed detail. The model also features profiled wheels and NEM pockets with self-centring couplings.
Specifications for the model include a scale of 1:76, prototype length over buffer of 14 metres, and a paint finish of pristine. The model measures 182mm in length over buffer, 33mm in width, and 43mm in height. The item number for the model is DA4F-025-014, and the livery is GBRf, with wagon numbers 502009 and 502010.
