Prototype Eras
Era 7 (1972 to 1982) British Rail Blue (TOPS)
Era 8 (1983 to 1994) British Rail Sectorisation
The Brush Type Twos – Class 30s and Class 31s – are the next Diesel Locomotives to get the Bachmann Branchline treatment, with models of these long-lived prototypes joining the Branchline OO scale range for the first time. Following in the footsteps of their N scale counterparts from Graham Farish, these new OO scale models have all the hallmarks of the Branchline Class 37 & 47 locomotives and more.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Bachmann Class 31/1 locomotive model, reference number 35‑805A, reproduces British Rail diesel unit 31293 in the classic Blue livery. The model measures 228 mm in length, features a 5‑pole motor with twin flywheel, and is fitted with NEM 362 couplings. It includes interior and directional lighting, and is DCC‑ready via a Plux 22 socket. The finish is described as pristine, with a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (second radius). The prototype represented was built in the British Rail Blue (TOPS) period; a total of 263 locomotives of this class were produced for British Rail.
The locomotive forms part of Bachmann’s Branchline OO‑scale range, joining the Brush Type Two series that also includes Class 30 models. These Branchline releases follow the earlier Graham Farish N‑scale versions and share the detailed standards introduced with the Class 37 and Class 47 Branchline models.
