We are pleased to announce this SOUND FITTED version of the all-new Branchline LNER Class V2 as part of our Summer 2021 British Railway Announcements. Finished as No. 60847 ‘St Peter’s School’ in BR Lined Green livery with Late Crest, this model utilises the new Branchline tooling that has been developed for the V2 incorporating a wealth of fine detail, authentic livery application and a firebox glow and flicker feature. This new model is sure to make a fine addition to any steam-era collection!

Analogue Users: Normal-load running sounds, acceleration steam chuff sounds and any other automatic and randomised sounds can be enjoyed when using this model on analogue control (DC) straight from the box - these sounds will play automatically when power is applied!

LNER CLASS V2 HISTORY

The LNER Class V2 steam locomotives were designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for express mixed traffic work and were built between 1936-1944. The V2s were the only significant class of 2-6-2 tender locomotives used in Britain.

184 locomotives were built at Doncaster and Darlington Works, construction continuing through the Second World War as they proved their usefulness. The V2 was developed from the Class A1/A3 Pacifics with smaller driving wheels and a shortened boiler. During WW2, the V2 locomotives achieved fantastic performances of haulage. Trains of over 20 carriages loaded to 700 tons proved within their abilities.

The most famous locomotive of the Class is No. 4771 ‘Green Arrow’ (later No. 800 and 60800). ‘Green Arrow’ was the first of the Class named for publicity purposes for the launch of the LNER’s express freight services and is the only preserved example, part of the National Collection.

Bachmann Branchline OO‑scale model of LNER Class V2 locomotive No 60847, named St Peter’s School. The model is finished in British Railways lined green livery with the Late Crest, presented in a pristine condition. It measures 280 mm in length, uses NEM coupling pockets and a semi‑permanent loco‑to‑tender coupling with a close‑coupling mechanism, and is equipped with a 5‑pole motor. The locomotive is DCC sound fitted with an ESU Loksound V5 decoder, providing firebox glow and flicker, a range of audible functions and analogue sound support.

Key specifications include a wheel arrangement of 2‑6‑2, steam motive power, and a design by Sir Nigel Gresley. The real locomotives were built between 1936 and 1944, with a total production of 184 units for British Railways. This model represents the British Railways Late Crest period and carries the manufacturer part number 35‑202SF. Additional accessories supplied are etched nameplates and an alternative flanged Cartazzi wheelset; buffers are sprung and the coupling is of the NEM type.
