Clayton DHP1
We proudly announce that we intend to produce the Clayton DHP1. It was a demonstrator ordered by Rolls Royce to showcase their engines and hydraulic transmission, with help from Col Fell of 10100 Fell Loco fame. Clayton modified the Class 17 drawings to suit the requirement as they were designed around the same time, although the 17 was about 4 feet longer, but the general layout was identical, testing didn’t go to plan and it was soon relegated to works shunter for the final 2 Class 17’s being built (the 2 with Rolls Royce engines).

KR Models Clayton DHP1 BR Blue Diesel Locomotive is a 00 scale model representing a British Rail Blue (TOPS) diesel locomotive. The model bears the manufacturer part number KRM-DHP-OO-R-BLUE and incorporates a 21‑pin DCC socket with easy access to directional LED lighting. It is built on a heavy die‑cast metal chassis that houses a central motor and flywheels for powerful performance.
The original Clayton DHP1 was a demonstrator ordered by Rolls‑Royce to exhibit their engines and hydraulic transmission, with assistance from Col Fell of 10100 Fell Loco fame. Clayton adapted the Class 17 drawings for the project; although the prototype was about four feet shorter than a Class 17, the general layout was the same. After testing did not meet expectations, the locomotive was used as a works shunter for the final two Class 17s built with Rolls‑Royce engines.
Model specifications include separately fitted wire handrails and sandpipes, etched grilles, sprung buffers and flush glazing. The model is intended for use on DCC‑compatible layouts.
