Manufacturer description

Collett's distinctive bow-ended coaches were developed from a pre-production series of 3 lots , being introduced from late 1925 onwards. Originally formed into six coach sets formed from E127, C54 & D94, or E127, C54 & D95 diagrams, later sets were marshalled into eight coach all Third Class rakes comprised of C58 & D104 diagrams.

Due to comfortable and smooth riding, the type lasted well into British Railways' service, the final examples being withdrawn during December 1962 and January 1963.

Hornby BR, Collett 'Bow‑Ended' Corridor Composite (Left Hand), W6146W - Era 4 is an OO gauge model of a Great Western Railway coach. The model is finished in pristine condition with a crimson and cream livery and carries the running number W6146W. It measures 242 mm in length, rides on bogies, and uses NEM / tension‑lock couplings. The coach is classified as CK (Composite Corridor) and represents a British Railways early‑crest period.

The original bow‑ended coaches were designed by Charles Collett and introduced from late 1925. They were initially formed in six‑coach sets using diagrams E127, C54 and D94 or E127, C54 and D95, and later assembled into eight‑coach all‑Third‑Class rakes of diagrams C58 and D104. Because of their comfortable and smooth ride, the type remained in service with British Railways until the final examples were withdrawn in December 1962 and January 1963.

The model is listed under manufacturer part number R4687A and is a replica of a Great Western Railway built coach. For further information on the historical Collett coaches, see *Great Western Coaches 1890‑1954* by Michael Harris.
