British Rail Class 92 92026 "Britten" British Rail (Railfreight Triple Grey)
Hornby DB Cargo Romania Class 92 (Co‑Co) is a OO‑scale model locomotive supplied as part of the Euro Connection range, which depicts British engines operating abroad. The model is DCC ready with an 8‑pin socket, a 5‑pole skew‑wound motor and a minimum curve radius of 2nd radius (438 mm). It is finished in pristine condition and painted in DB Cargo Romania cherry‑red livery, carrying the running number 91 53 0 4 and the name “Mihai Eminescu”. The locomotive measures 280 mm in length, uses a power‑bogie only pickup, and is fitted with NEM/Tension‑lock couplings.
The prototype was built between 1993 and 1996 by Asea Brown Boveri and Brush Traction, with 46 units produced in total. It is an electric, Co‑Co‑wheel arrangement locomotive capable of 90 mph, introduced into service in 1994. The model bears the manufacturer part number R3742F and represents the period of railway rebuilding.
Historically, unit 92012 entered service as Thomas Hardy for Railfreight Distribution, later passed to EWS, then DB Schenker, before being transferred to DB Cargo Romania and renumbered 91 53 0 472 001‑3 Mihai Eminescu, retaining the Channel Tunnel roundels and the BR arrow logo. This model therefore reflects the locomotive’s varied ownership and its operation on foreign shores.
