The model measures 250 mm in length, has a pristine black finish, and is fitted with NEM couplings. Power is collected from the driving wheels only and the locomotive runs on a minimum curve of the second radius (438 mm).

The prototype was originally a Railway Operating Division 2‑8‑0 built by Kitson in August 1918, numbered ROD 1625. It transferred to the LNER on 2 February 1924 as Class O4/3, receiving the LNER number 6359 and serving at Gorton, Sheffield Neepsend, Doncaster and Retford Thrumpton. The locomotive was rebuilt as a Class O1 in April/May 1945.
