Manufacturer description

Entering service in 1998, this was one of the original 250 locomotives ordered for EWS.

Funded by Locomotion Capital Ltd, it was leased to EWS until December 2008. No. 66022 was one of 60 locomotives sub-let to its Euro Cargo Rail subsidiary in France, starting in June 2006. It was then sold to Angel Trains, who leased it to DB Schenker Rail UK, but the locomotive remained in service in France, returning to the UK for heavy maintenance when required via the Channel Tunnel. Today it is part of the DB Cargo fleet.

Our RailRoad model faithfully replicates this Class 66 locomotive, with an emphasis on durability for regular model railway use.

Represents the initial privatisation period of British freight locomotives.

The prototype locomotive entered service in 1998 as one of the original 250 Class 66 units ordered for EWS. It was financed by Locomotion Capital Ltd and leased to EWS until 01/12/2008. From 01/06/2006 the locomotive was sub‑let to EWS’s Euro Cargo Rail subsidiary in France. It was subsequently sold to Angel Trains, which leased it to DB Schenker Rail UK, although the locomotive continued to operate in France and returned to the United Kingdom for heavy maintenance via the Channel Tunnel.
