Heljan North Eastern Railway ES1 LNER Unlined Black Bo‑Bo Electric Locomotive No.1 is a limited‑edition model released exclusively for the Rails of Sheffield range. The kit carries the manufacturer part number 1202 and is presented as a museum‑quality replica of the historic North Eastern Railway Class ES1, one of two steeple‑cab electric locomotives commissioned in 1902. The locomotives later passed to the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923 and to British Railways in 1948 before withdrawal.
The model includes LED cab lighting and headlights, a powerful five‑pole motor, DCC 18 compatibility and sound‑ready electronics. Fine‑scale sprung pantograph and sprung buffers are fitted, and an optional sound upgrade can be ordered separately. The prototype represents the era of the “Big Four” railway companies (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR).
