Prototype Era
Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
Cattle wagons were made in large numbers and were a common sight on rail in all parts of the country until their use was eclipsed by the use of specialised road vehicles. After their obsolescence, the ones that were in a fit enough state were often converted into ale vans for the conveyance of beer.
The Dapol model of the cattle van is based on the GWR design, of which over 1300 were built.

Cattle Wagon BR B8934525 - Weathered
The Dapol Cattle Wagon GWR 313825 is a model representing a GWR cattle wagon. The model is weathered, with a running number of 13825. It has a minimum radius curve requirement of one, indicating it can be used on smaller model railway layouts.
The model is based on the GWR design, with over 1300 such wagons built. Cattle wagons were once a common sight on British railways, but their use declined with the introduction of road vehicles. Those that remained were often repurposed, with some being converted into ale vans.
This model features highly detailed body moulding, profiled wheels, and NEM pockets with self-centring couplings. It also has an accurately applied livery.
